There are numerous Cancer charities that, through their web sites, offer information about the latest research or details of their nursing help, advice or support. A few are listed below and further names will be added as they come to W4CR attention.

Cancer Research UK say they are world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Their groundbreaking work has saved millions of lives and the web site has a wealth of information. They are a well-known charity and hold numerous fund-raising events. They fund cutting edge scientific research and provide people with the information they need to reduce their cancer risk.

World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK)  is committed to preventing cancer. They fund cutting edge scientific research and provide people with the information they need to reduce their cancer risk. Reports are released to the news media but also repeated on their web site. Read their lastest report with the reasons to cut back on red meat and processed foods! Scientists estimate that about a third of cancers could be prevented by eating a healthy diet, being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight.

Macmillan Cancer Support (www.macmillan.org.uk)
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. They have help lines and a team of nurses who will visit and talk through worrying issues with cancer sufferers and their families. Not only do they provide much needed medical information and advice they provide emotional support to the person diagnosed and their loved ones.

Now merged with Macmillan but their 6000 pages on the web site contain a lot of detail about types of cancer, types of chemotherapy and latest drugs plus practical help and advice

Marie Curie (www.mariecurie.org.uk) A large charity employing over 2700 nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals. The charity is best known for providing "end-of-life" care for patients in their own homes.
