Newspapers regularly have reports about a new cancer treatment break through or latest dietary advice and so often you hear about it but never have time to source/read the report.

A disc the size of a fingernail that destroys the most dangerous form of skin cancer has been developed by scientists. Fitted under the skin, the tiny device wiped out melanoma in up to half of the cases it was tested on.

Tumours could be "cooked" with magnetic particles - The Times 6th October 2009

Tiny magnetic particles that can be guided to tumours and heated to kill cancer cells may offer hope to patients with forms of the disease previously considered incurable. The technique is being developed by the University College London Cancer Institute.

Dr Chris Lord has led research at the Breakthough Breast Cancer Research Centre where specialists have found a class of drugs that can be used to kill cancers caused by a faulty gene.

A new method of combining scans to show if chemo is working within a week of cancer treatment starting. A Technique undergoing trials in the US to scan patients quickly to see if the tumour was responding. CT-PET scans are used and there are 20 machines in Britain that could be used.
